MIT fall to Boston RFC in inaugural match at Union Point Sports Complex

Teams:MIT vs Boston RFC
Played:04/07/2017 @ Weymouth, MA
Score: 12 - 37 MIT loss

On April 7, 2018, MIT traveled to Weymouth, MA to start their spring season vs. Boston RFC. Coming off of a brutal spring training where practices were held in rain, snow and sleet, MIT was excited to get a decent day of weather to kick off the season, only to find out that they were playing in a giant bubble. Luckily the bubble arena was a brand new facility featuring one of the softer turf fields MIT has played on. This was Boston RFC’s first game at their new home, and there were 2 matches leading up to the MIT-Boston clash.

Boston got off to a fast start, scoring just minutes after the kick-off to take an early 7-0 lead. Boston would add to that lead as MIT failed to come up together defensively and missed too many tackles. Boston were more organized on attack and MIT struggled to maintain possession throughout. There were some highlights for MIT. Winger Emmanuelle scored out wide on his debut with the team. Flanker Erik was all over the field pursuing Boston runners. Sasha and Martin were solid lineout options. Daeshauwn had some strong carries. Caleb was a force in attack. Johnny provided good attacking ball out to the backs and Alex S. and Adam were threats in the backfield. Unfortunately there were lowlights as well, which included John L. squealing on the ground after a shoulder charge.

MIT travels to NYC next weekend, April 14, 2018, to take on the Village Lions.
