Played:10/20/2018 @ Stowe, VT
Score: 14 - 26 MIT loss

On Saturday, October 20, 2018, MIT traveled to Stowe, VT to take on Mad River RFC. The team was treated to some prime leaf-peeping on their trek up to VT. It was a sunny but windy fall day. MIT played uphill and into the wind in the first half. With the elements against them, MIT attempted to play conservatively with hopes of opening it up in the second half. Unfortunately Mad River ended up dominating possession and MIT never got into a rhythm to do much of anything. Mad River outworked MIT, who were unable to string together consecutive phases. Mad River scored first to make it 7-0. They added another try to push it to 14-0. Before the half, winger Ike had a long breakaway and drew in the last defender and passed to Erik who was running in support. Erik took a hit in the try zone but was able to get the ball down for MIT’s first score. The lock tandem of Michael and Kenniel were breaking the gain line with some shifty running, but turnovers in the breakdown area stripped away any momentum. MIT were also unable to take advantage of a Mad River yellow card. Although unsatisfied with the effort, MIT was optimistic being down only a score going into the second half with the wind at their backs.

The second half saw history repeating itself again as Mad River continued to dominate possession. Inside center John L. whiffed on an intercept attempt leaving the Mad River fly-half a large gap. The fly-half offloaded to a support runner who scored to put Mad River up by 2 tries. Off of a scrum, Mad River attacked the weak side leading to a long try for their substitute winger. MIT fought until the end. A near intercept miss-out pass was scooped up by outside center Alex S. who beat several defenders on his way to a try. But MIT ran out of time and the final score was 26-14
