MIT Open Spring Season With Strong Win

Teams:MIT vs North Shore RFC
Played:04/26/2025 @ MIT
Score: 42 - 7 MIT win

MIT opened their spring season with a strong win over North Shore RFC. It was a cloudy day with intermittent showers and a few small puddles on the field. The game started out relatively evenly contested with both teams playing structured attack. North Shore's #8 was given a yellow card at around the 31 minute mark for dangerous tackle. MIT's #18 was given a yellow at around 36 minute mark for team repeated infringements. By half time the score was 17-7. The second half opened up for MIT who were able to capitalize on NS handling errors and broken defense. Some intermittent and momentary bickering between teams which was addressed with captains. Ultimately MIT seemed to have more experience and much more sophisticated play.

Keelan led the backline with 2 tries. Phil had a hat trick, with 1 try scored on 1 leg. Team president Tyler had a pick-and-go try. Matt was making big meters all game. Abi made his debut and was a master on the wing with a beautiful try in the corner. There were big tackles all game from Phil and rookie Cayden. Bill made his MIT debut at scrumhalf and looked like he has been playing with the team for 10 years. It felt like Dan stole almost all of their lineouts and their scrum was a powerhouse towards the end of the second half. The only thing missing was a Sam Adams basketball pass.
