MIT finish strong against Old Gold B

Teams:MIT vs Old Gold B
Played:04/09/2011 @ MIT
Score: 84 - 5 MIT win

MIT played their second game of the Spring season on a beautiful April afternoon at Briggs field. Having identified some areas of weakness on their previous outing against Charles River, MIT had worked hard in training for the week and were determined to show their improvement.

The game started at a blistering pace and MIT were the side setting that pace. The backrow were carrying ball effectively and piercing hole after hole in the Old Gold defence. These carries soon yielded reward as MIT crossed for two early tries. The scrum was providing a strong platform for the back line play which was very reassuring after a grueling week of scrum practice. The backline soon had their opposition defence figured out and began to make serious inroads. Further tries followed and an opportunistic drop goal left the half time score 39-0 in favour of MIT.

MIT were determined to maintain the standard of their performance regardless of the scoreline or the opposition and all spoke at half time about maintaining the momentum. The forwards continued to exert pressure up front while the backs honed their skills and ran through their array of backline plays to great effect. Several substitutions were made which did not affect the level of performance one bit. MIT finished as they had begun registering a plethora of tries and finishing out the victory in style.
