MIT take full points on the road v Monadnock

Teams:MIT vs Monadnock
Played:09/24/2011 @ Keene, NH
Score: 50 - 7 MIT win

MIT travelled to Keene, NH to take on Monadnock in their third game of the 2011 Fall Season.

The damp weather of the previous days took a turn for the better on Saturday morniing giving way to warm humid conditions and a damp field for the game.

Monadnock started brightly with their scrumhalf probing and causing MIT problems on a few occasions. Indeed the team as a whole showed a greater cohesion and stronger defense than the previous fall.

MIT persevered however and stuck to their game plan. Strong carries up front and some nice breaks from MVP John yielded good yardage gains and eventually an opening try for the outhalf.

MIT added two more tries before half time with scrumhalf Ruaidhri crossing the line after a good break from winger Niall and flanker Frank finishing with a typically strong carry.

At half time Monadnock were still in the game and came out firing after the break putting in some big hits. MIT absorbed the pressure however and ia great effort from the pack and front five in particular at scrum time proved to be a crucial advantage in the second period.

Centre Nico finished a classy try, his first for the club. Another first try was picked up by Chris who's strong ball carrying yielded a try from close range. Further tries were picked up by Mick, Ruadhri, John and Frank to complete the MIT scoring.

Monadnock had the final say with the last play of the game with an intercept in midfield leading to a try.

MIT's Fall season continues at home next weekend when Springfield will provide a stern test. All support welcome.

MVP: John
